The weather is warm and sunny at around 30 degrees Celsius, save for the odd shower, and there’s a good chance of finding cheap flights to St George’s and lower fares on hotels. Peak season runs January to April, which is when prices tend to be higher and there is an influx of tourists.

May to November is considered rainy season, which isn’t an ideal time to visit. However, anyone choosing to take a flight to St Georges during this time is likely to find deals on holiday packages. Just note that many businesses shut during this time. Second, Grenada’s capital city is known as one of the prettiest in the Caribbean with its own set of worthwhile sites and attractions. Colourfully painted houses, narrow, winding streets, and a beautiful harbour are just a few things that make it easy to fall for this charming Caribbean city.

After an initial exploration of the city, plan to visit Fort George, Grenada’s oldest fort. The fort was built in 1705 by the French, and it’s possible to climb to the top for some good views. Another itinerary-worthy stop is Carenage, a vibrant inlet where you can walk along the waterfront watching fishing boats and snapping photos. This is also a great place to stop for lunch or a snack at one of the restaurants in the area.

Visitors can then learn about the history of the island at Grenada National Museum, and anyone in St. George’s on a Friday or Saturday should make a point of visiting St. George’s Market Square, the largest market in Grenada stocked with produce, spices, and crafts.

Beach-lovers should be sure to make their way to Grand Anse Beach, a long stretch of white sand set against turquoise water. There are numerous hotels, restaurants and shops in the area for anyone who wants to get something to eat or shop while visiting the beach. While Grand Anse Beach does lie outside of St. George’s, but it’s easily accessible by minibus, taxi, car or water taxi.
