Salamanca is the capital of the province of Salamanca, in the Castile and Leon region in Western Spain. This is where the purest form of Spanish is spoken, and for this reason, thousands of students travel to Salamanca each year to learn the wonderful language.

The heart of Salamanca is the Plaza Mayor, which many believe is one of the most beautiful squares in Spain. Plaza Mayor is filled with cafes, restaurants and boutiques for tourists and locals to explore. People also go to Plaza Mayor just to sit and relax while listening to musical groups, called “Tunas,” play in the square.
