How to get from the airport to the city centre?

Jakarta:

The airport is around 20km north of the city centre and you have two major options to help you get there. The cheapest and more commonly used choice is to get a bus. The DAMRI shuttle bus goes all over Jakarta for around IDR 20 000 as well as neighboring cities too. Other than that your only alternative is to jump in a taxi. You can find them outside of arrivals but they are a lot more expensive than the bus service.

Bali:

The cheapest way to make up the 13km distance between the airport and the city centre is to jump on a bus. They take about an hour and cost around £0.70. The buses go to Tegal Station in the centre of Denpasar where you can then either get other buses to other parts of Bali or find your way to your hotel. If you walk out of the airport – turn right as you leave the Terminal – then you can try and negotiate a price with a green Bemo. They are mini-bus taxis that can be convenient if you have a lot of baggage with you.
